Description

Because they not only make life easier for the boss, site manager, project manager, controller, foreman and supervisor, but also for your customers! The pictures quickly and impressively show how road plates effectively help to protect the floor and why it is crucial that the plates are properly connected to each other. No ruts or floor damage can be seen where road plates are placed. You can also clearly see how important it is that the slabs are bonded together, as the position of the slab bond is significantly improved.

What options are there for laying and connecting road plates?

If the panels have more than four connecting holes, as is the case with the v:tek MINI trackway panel used here, the types of installation are almost unlimited. Usually, the slabs are laid lengthways as a two-lane track, as can be seen here. This two-lane laying method should only be used if the construction road does not have to be laid in curves or around corners and all construction machinery used has approximately the same track width. Further laying types in the overview:

  • 1-lane, transverse to the direction of travel (recommended)
  • 2 lanes, lengthways to the direction of travel
  • 2 lanes on the H principle, lengthways to the direction of travel
  • 2 lanes, transverse to the direction of travel (recommended)
  • 3 lanes, lengthways to the direction of travel

Good reasons for trackway mats in gardening and landscaping

Plastic road plates are frequently used in gardening and landscaping (GaLaBau) for various reasons. Road plates are usually medium-sized, robust plates made of pressure-resistant HDPE plastic that are laid on the ground to fulfil various purposes. Here are some reasons why plastic road plates are used in landscaping:

  • Ground protection & Surface protection
Plastic road plates protect the ground from damage, especially in wet or soft ground conditions, they prevent rutting, reduce mud formation and prevent construction machinery from getting stuck. They distribute the weight of vehicles and construction machinery to minimize ground pressure and soil compaction.
  • Access & mobility
Plastic road plates create temporary driveways and work surfaces that allow access to construction sites. This is particularly important when machines such as excavators or wheel loaders have to work on soft or sensitive ground.

  • Safety & Health
Plastic road plates provide an even and non-slip surface for workers and machines. This helps to improve safety on construction sites by reducing accidents caused by machinery slipping and minimizing workers tripping, slipping or twisting.
  • Time and cost savings
By using plastic road plates, project deadlines can be adhered to regardless of weather conditions and planning reliability. This allows you to accelerate the construction process and complete more projects. This can save costs as fewer labour and machine hours are required.
  • Environmental protection
By reducing soil damage and erosion, plastic road plates help to minimize the environmental impact of construction projects. Thanks to the stable and solid surface, fuel consumption and therefore CO2 emissions are reduced.
  • Versatility
Plastic road plates are versatile and can be used for various applications in landscaping for site furnishing, including temporary access roads, storage areas, assembly areas and walkways.
  • Sustainability & Economy
The almost infinite reusability of plastic road plates makes them a sustainable option. They can be reused on different construction sites for many years. Replacement costs and disposal costs are therefore largely eliminated.

To summarise, it is important to ensure that the laying and connection/coupling of the slabs is adapted to the specific requirements of the project and the ground conditions. Before using plastic road plates in landscaping, you should carry out a laying plan for the plates in advance.
