In this customer project, the mulch mat Kokos MMK600 was installed as a precautionary weed protection and for slope stabilization in late fall. The customer decided to use the mulch mat with the black porous film to ensure that no weeds would even be able to develop until the slope was planted in the spring.
Mulch mats are very commonly used as in this example for slope stabilization and erosion control. The mulch mat differs from the slope mat by an additional porous film of and a significantly higher weight per unit area. Both products, however, enable slope stabilization and subsequent planting or low-erosion covering of the slope with e.g. e.g. topsoil for later sowing with lawn seed (similar to a seed mat).
At Installation the mulch mat, this customer made it very easy on himself. Instead of laying the mulch mat in a vertical direction (top/bottom) as recommended and securing each at the top of the slope and at the toe of the slope by digging in, the customer laid the mulch mat horizontally from left to right to save himself labor.
Then the mulch mat was secured in the slope with Ground Anchor and covered with soil at the base of the slope and crown. This type of Installation is unconventional, but very fast and easy to execute.
