The "Forest Investment Program" has been launched! The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) thus promotes investments in digitization and technology for sustainable forest management. Forest conversion continues to take shape: In its economic stimulus package, the German government agreed, among other things, to promote the preservation and management of forests, including digitalization in forestry and investments in modern equipment and technology for forestry. On November 2, 2020, the new "Forest Investment Program" of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) will now start as a first step. Around 50 million euros are available for this purpose until the end of 2021.

Subsidy of 40%

Funding is available for investments in IT hardware and software, machinery, equipment, draught horses, plant and buildings used in sustainable forestry and mobile wood processing. A grant of 40 percent is available for the total investment amount. The remaining amount is to be financed through a low-interest program loan from Landwirtschaftliche Rentenbank. The program starts on a de minimis basis and will be notified to the EU Commission at the same time.

Who is eligible for funding?

Private and municipal forestry operations, forestry associations, forestry contractors, forestry experts and forest tree nurseries are eligible for funding.
