In this reference, the heavy-duty Ground Grid BG50 was laid for yard expansion for a tractor-accessible lawn. Conventional Grass Grid made of plastic usually only stabilize the turf or protect the roots. In addition, most Grass Grid are made of hard, non-elastic HD-PE plastic, these are usually not very strong and break more easily.
For this reason, the customer chose the soil-stabilizing Ground Grid BG50. Depending on the subsoil/substructure, the Ground Grid can bear loads of up to 500t/sqm and is suitable for axle loads of up to 12 tons. Thanks to these properties, it is possible to drive heavy vehicles, such as tractors, agricultural machinery over the grassed Ground Grid without creating ruts or gutters.
Another advantage of the ground grid in comparison with simpler grass grids, is the soft, elastic and dimensionally stable LD-PE plastic. This plastic is better able to absorb and release high loads and forces. To protect the roots of the lawn, the grid height of 5.0 cm has proven its worth.
In the first work steps, the existing lawn was pushed off, excavated to create a load-bearing substructure. Before the Installation of the Ground Grid this was then leveled, compacted and sanded in. Now the Ground Grid had to be filled only with earth and sown lawn seeds.
As you can see in the last pictures, a lush green lawn has been created. This can now be driven on by heavy vehicles without causing damage to the turf. Rutting or rutting is also a thing of the past.
