Mud-free drinking access for horses with the anchor gate AG60

In this case study, mud-free access to a horse watering trough was created using the AG60 anchor grid and the PP60 paddock slab. Depending on the prevailing soil type, it may be important to first create a substructure. This is not always necessary, but it offers only advantages. The minimal substructure chosen in this case study was made of sand, as can be seen in the images.

Should paddock slabs be laid with or without a substructure?

We recommend always using a separating fleece for substructures to prevent soil layers from mixing and stabilize the soil structure. The fleece also acts as a barrier to prevent mud from forming from below.

Securely connect paddock panels

The AG60 anchor grid (identical to the PP60 paddock slab) was then laid on the substructure. The easy-to-use connection and coupling of the paddock slabs allows for quick and easy installation of even large areas. Once the anchor grids have been laid, they can be vibrated, driven in, or rolled into the ground, depending on the subsurface and requirements, ensuring that the integrated ground anchors firmly interlock with the subsoil.

We recommend a minimal tread layer on the paddock slats

Finally, the finished area can be covered with sand so that it is no longer or hardly visible and walking on the grids is more comfortable and easier on the horses' joints.
