Floor protection mat BM44 for protecting cobblestones and mosaic

In this customer project, the BM44 floor protection mat was installed to protect historic cobblestones and a valuable mosaic during a building restoration/renovation phase. Unfortunately, we didn't receive more photos, but we would like to share them with you due to the specific application. The customer had to ensure that the construction work did not cause any damage to the floor, either through subsidence or by scratching the surface.

To prevent this damage, our client opted for a special structure. A geotextile was used as the bottom layer as a separating layer. This soft geotextile or fleece protects the cobblestones and mosaic from friction and scratches.

A sand bedding was spread over the geotextile to compensate for the unevenness of the cobblestones. This is recommended to create a flat, even, and leveled surface for the floor protection mats, as these must distribute the resulting loads as optimally as possible to prevent soil settlement.

The floor protection mats were then laid on the sand. The 44 mm thick floor protection mats are made of soft PVC and are therefore slip-resistant, shock-absorbing, and load-distributing. The upper surface also features a 2,0 mm thick profile to ensure safe use by both pedestrians and machinery.
