x:tek 46 next-generation high-performance road plates with smartGRIP, the unique 3-step profile design, and the innovative channel system. Over 12 years of practical experience and two years of product design went into the development of the x:tek plastic road plate. The result is one of the most functional and economical road plates on the market. The x:tek road plate contains so many innovations and advantages that almost no other road plate available on the market, we don't even know where to start.

Innovative plastic road plates for temporary access solutions and platforms
The smartGRIP tread design is the world's first tread pattern with three different tread heights implemented in a single tread pattern (3 mm, 0,1 mm, and 3 mm). One of the goals in developing the tread pattern was to ensure the tread pattern functions perfectly for pedestrians, vehicles, and construction machinery. When it comes to pedestrian traffic, the priority is to ensure safe, trip-free, and comfortable walking on the road plates. For vehicles and construction machinery, the tread pattern must generate maximum traction even on the most difficult terrain with steep longitudinal and/or transverse slopes and under the most adverse conditions (rain, snow, mud).
Symmetrical & multidirectional profiling
Another outstanding feature of the smartGRIP tread design is its perfectly symmetrical profile. This symmetrical profile arrangement ensures that, regardless of the direction of travel, direction of use, or installation of the road plates, the profile consistently produces the maximum possible multidirectional grip.
Water & mud easy to clean road plate
The multidirectional channel system of the x:tek Road plates with smartGRIP is designed to effectively drain water, dirt, and mud from the road plates quickly, easily, and effectively. The slightly rough surface of the road plate also reduces the adhesion of dirt, similar to the lotus blossom effect.
Stress-reduced & more durable road plate
Thanks to the sophisticated design, we were also able to evenly absorb the stress in the material (HDPE plastic) caused by driving over the panels (carpet effect) and distribute it throughout the panel and material. This is made possible by the channel system in our design, as the material thickness is always consistently the same within the multidirectional channel system.
Well thought out & economical road plate design
If you take a close look at the smartGRIP profile, you'll barely notice a single horizontal line in the profile design. Why is this important? You'll know it when you or your employees need to clean the road plates after work. Normally, you clean the road plates by placing them vertically or horizontally on their edge and spraying them with a pressure washer. Dirt and water always remain on every horizontal profile element because it can't drain away. With the smartGRIP profiling, you save up to 15% water, time, and money when cleaning the road plates.
Detailed & optimized properties of the road plate
The fact that we really thought about every detail in the profile design is evident when stacking road plates with double-sided smartGRIP profile design. The profiles do not lie flush with each other, but rather nest or interlock with a slight offset. This effectively reduces the height by up to 25% (55 cm instead of 76 cm) and the transport volume by up to 38% (1,34 m3 instead of 1,85 m3) based on a set of 30 road plates.
Lighter & more manageable road plate
Compared to all other solutions made of wood, aluminum or steel, plastic road plates have the major advantage of being significantly lighter (x:tek 46 = 32 kg light) and more compact (x:tek 46 = 2000 x 1220 mm). Due to these properties, x:tek Road plates are laid and coupled or connected to each other exclusively by hand. This saves expensive machine hours and also allows the wheel loader or excavator to be used for what it was actually designed for. As a rule of thumb, you can assume the following values for the installation time for x:tek 46 high-performance road plates: Depending on the connection technology used, 30 x:tek Road plates are laid in 30 minutes by 3 workers. This corresponds to a 2-lane temporary access solution or roadway of 30 linear meters or a platform with a total area of just under 75 square meters.
Corner holes & center holes in the road plate
The x:tek Road plates feature a 12-hole system for coupling or connecting the individual road plates. There is a connecting hole at each of the four corners of the plate, and there are also double center holes in the middle of the long and short sides of the road plate (4 sides with 4 holes each = 2 holes). The 8-hole system thus enables both long and short coupling of the road plates. It is also possible to couple the road plates in a half-braid lengthwise direction. The advantage of the center holes is noticeable on very uneven, softened, or worn ground. If the x:tek Road plates are connected to each other using the connecting technology at the center hole, no gaps or height differences can occur at the transition between the plates. This reduces stress (wear) in the plate and increases the safety and cleanliness of a platform or construction road constructed in this way.
Practical & cleaner road surface
We have deliberately omitted so-called grip holes, i.e., milled-out handles, due to the resulting reduced product lifespan and impracticality. Grip holes weaken the road plates, so experience has shown that they tend to break at precisely these points. Furthermore, driving over the road plates would cause mud and sludge to wash onto the plates. As a result, the road plates become increasingly muddier and slippery, and when stepping off the road plates, the mud is transferred or spread out into public spaces, for example.
Transport & Logistics Solutions
When developing the x:tek Road plates, particular consideration was given to construction site logistics and logistics in general. The dimensions and form factor of the x:tek Road plates were deliberately dimensioned to be as small as necessary and as large as possible. The result is logistics, transport and loading space optimised dimensions of 2000 mm x 1220 mm. This means that the x:tek road plate can be transported on almost any vehicle and trailer. For safe transport and fast unloading, we recommend our galvanised Stillage, which is also not oversized and transport-optimised, with foldable securing angles for fast unloading. If that is not mobile and flexible enough for you, we also have our attachable wheels for the Stillage so that it can be moved independently without a forklift, wheel loader or other vehicle.
