How do ground protection mats ensure a successful event in the forest?
True to the motto “In the thick of it, not just by the sidelines,” we were personally on-site for this project to accompany the customer throughout the entire installation phase. The goal was to create a mobile Footpath in the forest from the fairground to a T-junction in the forest, where an event of the German Red Cross drone squadron was taking place. The customer decided to use the rental offer from our s:tek high-performance ground protection mats to take advantage of – a perfect choice for demanding floors.
Why is the forest path a particular challenge?
While laying the Ground protection mats across a meadow is comparatively uncomplicated, a forest path with its bumps, roots and hollows, it represents a real test. Anyone who has ever walked along a forest path knows the problem: centimeter-high roots and deep hollows make it difficult to build a stable and safe walkway.
However, with the s:tek high-performance plates, we were able to offer a solution that forest floor while creating a safe, comfortable space for visitors.
How do soil protection panels protect the forest and the sidewalk?
The purpose of installing the s:tek soil protection panels was not only to create a walkable walkway, but also to protect the sensitive forest soil. Thanks to the high-performance HDPE plastic used, the panels meet several requirements:
- Tripping-free installation: Despite the unevenness of the forest path, the slabs do not pose any tripping hazards.
- Protection of the root stock: The plastic adapts easily to high temperatures and forms a protective layer over protruding roots without damaging them
- Sustainability and stability: After use, the panels return to their original state so that they can be used again and again.
How do ground protection mats cope with extreme conditions?
During the project, installation was carried out in temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius—a challenge for both people and materials. However, even under these conditions, the ground protection mats proved to be easy and quick to install. Additionally, filling some uneven areas with wood chips provided a perfect foundation for safely and securely placing the panels.
