In this case, the BG50 ground grid was installed to provide non-slip ground stabilization for the construction of a riding arena. The customer chose a 50 mm high plastic ground grid, which has proven itself in horse housing and equestrian sports.

To ensure a sustainable riding arena, we recommend first removing the existing soil and creating a slight slope to facilitate the controlled drainage of rainwater and soil moisture. Next, we've proven effective in constructing a base layer and drainage layer of coarse gravel. This should be evenly distributed and then compacted.

A leveling layer/laying bed of finer gravel or chippings should now be spread on the base layer, leveled, and compacted. Since the soil grid will later be filled with sand, we always recommend using a geotextile such as a separation fleece TV110, TV300, or similar as a separation layer. The soil grid can then be laid directly on top of the separation fleece and then filled.

Depending on the product, area of application, and use of the surface, the previously filled product can or should be overfilled. This may be necessary, as the filling materials can subsequently settle for either natural or mechanical reasons. A top layer also protects the product from UV rays and direct contact stress. Thus, a top layer reduces wear and tear and has a positive effect on the product's service life.

  • Note, overfilling with sand. Depending on the grain size, an overfill of up to 3,0 cm above the top edge of the product may be recommended.
  • Note, overfilling with footing material. Depending on the footing material and aggregates, an overfill of up to 9,0 cm above the top edge of the product may be recommended.

BG50 ground grids are special grid panels that can be used in riding arena construction for non-slip ground stabilization. These grid panels are made of LDPE plastic and measure 50 x 50 cm. The grid panels are placed on the ground to be stabilized and filled with gravel, sand, or another suitable material.

Filling the area with material creates a stable and non-slip base. The grid panels prevent the ground from sinking, thus providing lasting stability. Ground grids are a sensible investment for long-term ground preservation, especially in riding arenas or other heavily used areas.

Ground grids can also help improve soil drainage, as rainwater can flow through the grid panels, preventing puddles. This also reduces the risk of injury to horses and riders, as the ground remains dry and evenly textured.

Overall, ground grids are an effective way to stabilize the floor in riding arenas and other heavily frequented areas in the long term, thus ensuring safe and comfortable use.
