In this customer project, the BM44 floor protection mat was installed as an alternative to a wooden floor in a garden shed. According to the customer, the decisive factor was the many advantages of plastic compared to wood. The main reason for purchasing the plastic floor protection mats was their resistance to moisture. In other words, the floor protection mats cannot rot due to the material.

A layer of sand was spread over the compacted gravel bed to create a level surface. This is recommended to ensure that the floor protection mats themselves and the garden house, which will later stand on the floor protection mats, are level. The floor protection mats were then laid piece by piece into the sand. The fact that the underside of the floor protection mats consists of a load-distributing ring structure allowed the floor protection mats to be laid firmly and securely into the sand bed.

The floor protection mats are securely connected to each other using a tongue and groove joint. Compared to puzzle joints, the tongue and groove joint has the advantage of preventing moisture from penetrating horizontally. This means that soil moisture cannot rise and liquids cannot seep through the floor protection mats from above.

Once the entire base area was covered with floor protection mats, the garden shed could be placed on top. The floor protection mats serve two functions: First, they serve as a load-distributing floor slab, and second, they provide heat and cold insulation for the garden shed itself.
