In the case of poor, water-impermeable soils, it is advisable to replace the floor beforehand, but that was absolutely not necessary in this example.
Paddock Plates laying without substructure
In this customer example, the Paddock Plates was laid directly on the existing floor without a substructure. In some places, unevenness in the ground was filled with sand beforehand to level the surface as far as possible. In some places with high soil moisture it is recommended to use crushed sand or chippings instead of sand in order to positively influence the bearing capacity and water drainage of the soil. You can see this in pictures 6 & 7.
Paddock Plates sanding for a better appearance and to protect the gels
For the final touch, the Paddock Plates can be covered with sand. In addition to the improved appearance, sanding has important functions. The horses get a more comfortable, softer gait or stance, it is more slip-resistant even in winter and the Paddock Plates are protected from UV rays. Sand is a "can" but not a "must" read the customer comment:
"The horses use the Paddock Plates very gladly and always take this way - although we have not covered the plates with sand."
