Description

In this reference, the Ground Grid BG50 was laid as Paddock Plates for a tread-resistant horse paddock. The choice of the customer fell on Ground Grid or Paddock Plates from plastic in 50 mm height, which is proven for the attitude of Icelandic horses. Following can customer report about the production and the laying of a horse paddock for Icelandic horses with the Ground Grid BG50 as Paddock Plate.

Paddock Plates - Installation

  • Picture 1 and 2: Levelling of the paddock area with the creation of a slope, so that moisture can seep away to the edge to the drainages.
  • Fig. 3 and 4: Drainage channel laid with Geotextile
  • Fig. 5: Insertion of the drainage pipe
  • Figs. 6 and 7: Backfilling the drainage channel with washed round ballast
  • Picture 8 and 9: Lining of the whole area with Geotextile also over the filled drainage channels
  • Fig. 10,11,12.: Placement of crushed lime gravel layer thickness 20 cm and compaction with heavy-duty roller for a smooth surface
  • Fig. 13: Placement of the posts for the fencing
  • Fig. 14: Application of washed chippings, layer thickness 5 cm, to produce a level surface for laying the slabs.
  • Picture 15,16,17,18.: Laying the slabs  5 cm thickness
  • Fig. 19, 21: The slabs are vibrated into the chippings layer up to approx. 2 cm with the vibratory plate so that there is a continuous connection to the stable slabs.
  • Fig. 20: The slabs vibrated into the chippings bed Paddock Plates - from this step on, they can be driven over
  • Fig. 22 and 24: Backfilling the Paddock Plates with washed fine gravel, grain size approx. 5 mm
  • Fig. 23.: The Paddock Plates can be easily cut out for the posts with the jigsaw
  • Fig. 25.: Vibration of the entire surface to achieve a completely smooth and stepless surface
  • Fig. 26.: application of fine crushed lime sand to fill the cavities of the gravel, vibrating it in and pulling it off with the rubber scraper
  • Figs. 27 and 29: the finished paddock
  • Fig. 28: Mucking out is done with a rubber shovel or a snow shovel. No footing is required on the slabs, the horses stand directly on the backfilled slabs, making mucking out with the pusher or snow shovel easier. The rainwater seeps away quickly without forming puddles.
