Description

For this reference, our customer chose the heavy-duty Ground Grid BG30 instead of concrete Grass Paver. Just like a Grass Paver made of concrete, the Ground Grid made of plastic fulfills the same purpose. Compared to the Grass Paver, the Ground Grid is much lighter and faster to install.

The Ground Grid has 16 coupling elements, the Grass Paver does without. Another advantage of the floor grid in comparison to grass pavers is the soft, elastic and dimensionally stable LD-PE plastic. This plastic is able to absorb and release high loads and forces. The Grass Paver made of concrete is hard and porous.

In summer, the concrete of the lawn grid removes moisture from the soil by heating up the wide, flat webs. As a result, the lawn turns yellow and may burn. In winter, soil frost and trapped water in the concrete can easily cause the Grass Paver to crack or even burst.

The Ground Grid made of plastic, on the other hand, is almost invisible visually thanks to the thinner bars or grid walls. The smaller surface area is therefore less likely to heat up, especially as the plastic itself tends to insulate rather than absorb or store energy from solar radiation. Thanks to these properties of the plastic ground grid, no moisture is extracted from the soil, ideal for maintaining a lush green lawn.

For all these reasons, the customer chose the soil stabilizing Ground Grid BG30. The Ground Grid is, depending on the subsoil/substructure, loadable up to 350t/sqm and suitable for axle loads up to 12 tons. Thus, it is possible to drive with heavy vehicles on the grassed Ground Grid without causing ruts or driving grooves.

In the first work steps the existing lawn was pushed off, excavated around a load-carrying substructure to manufacture. Before the Installation of the Ground Grid this was then still eingnetnet, compacted and eingeingsandet. Now the Ground Grid had to be filled only with earth and sown grass seeds.

As you can see on the last pictures, a lush green lawn has been created. This can now be driven on by vehicles without causing damage to the lawn. Rutting or rutting is also a thing of the past.
