What is important in the procurement of trackway mats and temporary construction roads? In order to find an answer to this question, a large field test was carried out in May 2010 by Technical Aid Organisation and Emergency Command in Prora. Manufacturers or suppliers of mobile access solutions made of plastic were invited. The systems were tested in difficult terrain on fine sand with a wide variety of emergency vehicles and extreme loads. In the end, only Securatek's s:tek 48 high-performance ground protection mats were able to convince the expert decision-making committee.
As a result, s:tek 48 floor protection panel sets were procured for all bases of the emergency command and the Technical Aid Federal School was equipped with the training center in Hoya. Since then, more and more regional offices and local units have come to rely on the system, which has been tried and tested in accordance with the THW-StAN (Strength and Equipment Specification), with the aim of procuring and purchasing ground protection plates that are compatible with the system. Thus, in the case of operation, plates from different regional offices, OV's or specialized groups can be used together and connected compatibly with each other. This reduces problems in planning, coordination, communication and saves valuable time. The same applies in particular to dismantling, since otherwise it must be assigned which plates belong to which regional office.
