Parking spaces are scarce. Especially in the inner-city area. Often you have to bring a lot of patience until you finally find a parking space. Very often, the good straightened and illuminated parking spaces are already occupied. So it can happen that you have to switch to areas that sometimes look a bit medieval. What else can you do? Drivers of lowered vehicles will certainly feel addressed by this fact. All the better that there are people who take care of such parking areas and thus provide an invaluable service for all motorists. In this project, our customer, with the help of the KM30 gravel mat, straightened such a parking area and turned an unsightly piece of asphalt into a parking lot where people like to park their cars.
At the beginning, all edge connections were raised by 5 cm with concrete and then all transitions at existing levels were created. At some transitions, the asphalt must also be milled off. Once this initial work has been completed, the next step is leveling. For this purpose, unevenness is removed or filled in order to obtain a level surface. The KM30 gravel mats are then laid on the prepared surface and connected or coupled with each other and then filled with bulk material. At this point, we recommend overfilling the gravel mats at least 1-2 cm above the top edge.
This will later protect the gravel mats from gravity forces, damage and increased wear. The stabilizing effect is still maintained. In this project, due to the rather large area, the gravel mats were laid in sections, filled, troweled and fixed with a roller. For areas that are not laid out at right angles, the KM30 gra vel mat can be conveniently cut into shape with any tool that cuts, grinds or saws.
