Description

Modern and functional and redesign of a front garden and carport driveway with reduced maintenance. More and more often it happens that classically designed front gardens consisting of lawns and an enclosure by fences are replaced by beautifully designed rock gardens, gravel and gravel surfaces. In addition to decorative reasons, the functional reasons of stabilized gravel areas are usually also convincing. No lawn mowing, no ruts, no driveways, no mud in the rainy season, very good drainage, easy and low maintenance.

The initial situation in this customer project was first the removal of the turf in the area of the front garden and in the driveway area of the courtyard and carport in which additional Grass Paver of concrete had been worked into the turf. In the next work step, the topsoil was excavated and a compacted load-bearing crushed stone substructure was created.

A levelling layer of fine chippings was drawn off onto the crushed stone sub-base and then a geotextile or Geotextile was laid. The Geotextile is used to reduce possible weed growth as well as to prevent mixing of the soil layers. Another positive side effect is the more extensive drainage or absorption of point loads.

Now the laying of the Gravel Grid KG30 could be started. The laying of the Gravel Grid is very easy and goes very fast. Gravel Grid lay out, connect and if necessary fit in by cutting, grinding, sawing or separating. And if there is nothing else available, the Gravel Grid can also be cut from plastic in the area of the microperforated base plate with household scissors or side cutters.

Finally, only the Gravel Grid had to be filled / backfilled with gravel. Alternatively, the Gravel Grid can be filled with decorative gravel, crushed stone or chippings. Grain sizes between 5 mm and 20 mm have proven to be ideal. We recommend covering the Gravel Grid with approx. 1 - 2 cm of gravel to protect the Gravel Grid from direct contact loads and UV rays.
