The gravel honeycombs KW50 are floor honeycombs made of a 3D honeycomb structure, which can adapt to any surface and shape almost without waste due to the extremely flexible honeycomb grid. The laying of the gravel honeycombs itself is very easy. First, we recommend leveling the existing ground and creating a subgrade with a slight slope. To prevent the gravel from migrating into the subsoil, it is advisable to lay a geotextile on the ground. The Geotextile serves on the one hand to provide additional reinforcement and stabilization of the soil or soil layers.
On the other hand, it serves to separate two soil layers or materials from each other and to prevent mixing of the soil layers. Likewise, it is also to prevent the gravel later filled into the gravel honeycombs from seeping or migrating into the soil layer below. In this way, you reduce the later maintenance of the area as well as the refilling of material.
The gravel honeycombs were now laid on the subsoil prepared in this way. In the first step, the gravel honeycomb was also extended to the desired length and width. The four corners of the expanded gravel honeycomb were fixed in the ground with Ground Anchor or an iron rod so that it could then become flush to the top edge.
The gravel honeycomb was then overfilled with an approx. 1 to 2 cm thick top layer of colored gravel. The top layer performs two important functions. First, it protects the gravel honeycombs from direct contact stresses, and second, it protects them from the sun's UV rays. Simply put, a top layer increases the life of the gravel honeycomb.
