In this reference, one has transformed a house entrance & a courtyard driveway into gravel paths with the KW30 gravel honeycombs
First, the customer marked the path in front of the house entrance with a border, so it is easier to finish the path and make the substructure neat and tidy.
How the substructure finally looks, is up to you. The important thing is that the substructure serves not only for water permeability, but also as an equalizer so that the path is in balance.
If you use sand as a subfloor layer in the substructure, we recommend laying out a Geotextile. For example, Geotextile TV110. Otherwise, you can start laying out the honeycombs.
Are the mats too big and do not correspond to the dimensions of the substructure? With a tool that cuts, saws or separates the honeycombs can be adjusted to the desired size.
The same principle applies to the yard entrance. However, it is important to note here that larger masses travel over the honeycombs (such as cars), so a deeper substructure or a denser substructure should be created. In case of a high load, we recommend a substructure of 25 to 50 cm.
Finally, the gravel honeycombs only need to be filled. Fillers such as chippings, gravel or crushed stone are suitable for this purpose. Care should be taken to ensure that the bulk material is 2-25 mm in size.
