Description

In this reference, the Ground Grid BG50 was laid for tread stabilization for the construction of a riding arena. The customer chose Ground Grid made of plastic in 50 mm height, which has proven itself for keeping horses and in equestrian sports.

In order to create the riding arena in a sustainable manner, we recommend that the existing ground first be pushed away and a slight slope be created so that any rainwater and soil moisture that arises can be drained away more easily and in a controlled manner. Next, the construction of a base and drainage layer of coarse crushed stone has proven successful. This should be evenly distributed and then compacted.

A levelling layer / laying bed of finer crushed stone or chippings should now be spread on top of the base layer, drawn off and compacted. Geotextile Since the Ground Grid will later be backfilled with sand, we always recommend using a geotextile, e.g. TV110, TV300 or similar, as a separating layer. Subsequently, the Ground Grid can be laid directly on the Geotextile and then backfilled.

Depending on the product, field of application, application and use of the area, the previously backfilled product can or should be overfilled. On the one hand, this may be necessary, as the filling materials can settle subsequently either for natural or mechanical reasons. On the other hand, a top coat protects the product from UV rays as well as from direct contact loads. Thus, a top layer reduces wear and has a positive effect on product life.

  • Note, overfilling with sand. Depending on the grain size, overfilling up to 3.0 cm above the top edge of the product may be recommended.
  • Note, overfilling with footing material. Depending on the footing material and aggregates, overfilling of up to 9.0 cm above the top edge of the product may be recommended.

Ground Grid BG50 are special grid panels that can be used in riding arena construction for footing stabilization. These grid plates are made of polypropylene and have a size of 50 x 50 cm. The grid plates are placed on the ground to be stabilized and filled with crushed stone, sand or other suitable material.

Filling with material creates a stable and treadable foundation. The grid plates prevent the ground from sinking in and thus provide permanent stabilization. Particularly in riding arenas or other areas that receive heavy foot traffic, Ground Grid is a sensible investment to preserve the ground in the long term.

Ground Grid can also help improve the drainage of the ground, as rainwater can drain through the grid panels, thus preventing puddles from forming. This also reduces the risk of injury to horses and riders by keeping the ground dry and even in texture at all times.

Overall, Ground Grid is an effective way to stabilize the ground in riding arenas and other high-traffic areas for the long term, ensuring safe and comfortable use.
