Every horse owner knows the problem. At the latest during the wet and humid season, there are always problems with an unpaved paddock floor. The ground in the paddock becomes softer and softer and the horses stand up to their ankles in mud. Yet the solution is so simple! To fix a paddock floor, several products from the Securatek product range are suitable.
For a horse paddock we recommend our Ground Grid BG50 made of plastic as used here, or as the name suggests the padock plate PP60. Both products, due to their design/construction, immediately fix the ground. To improve or change the soil properties, however, we recommend before the Installation of the Ground Grid or Paddock Plates the subsoil or mud to remove / remove and replace by drainage layer such as gravel or crushed stone.
So that the soil layers (drainage + substructure and superstructure + paddock soil) do not mix, we recommend laying a Geotextile between the two layers, as can also be seen in this reference. Another positive side effect is that the Geotextile improves the bearing capacity of the soil.
This means an additional effort, but it is worth it. A paddock floor made this way drains moisture faster and stays dry, sure-footed and fortified on the surface. The result is good for the horses as well as for the owners. The time savings and labor savings alone in maintaining the paddock are remarkable.
