In scaffolding and stage construction, the use of plastic shims instead of wood is on the rise.

Why is this so? Here are the reasons:

Durability: plastic shims are more durable than wood and can be used for a longer period of time without rotting, breaking or deforming.

Weather resistance: Plastic is insensitive to weather influences such as rain, moisture and UV radiation, whereas wood can be damaged by these influences over time.

Light weight: Plastic screeds are usually lighter than wood and therefore easier to handle and transport.
Safety: Plastic screeds usually have a slip-resistant surface and are therefore more slip-resistant and stable than wood.

Environmental friendliness: Unlike wood, plastic is recyclable and therefore more environmentally friendly.
