Steel driving plate - 2500x1250x10 mm incl. 2 holes a 40mm for lifting or craning. Drive-over plates made of steel, similar to S235/S355 (on request in S235JR with APZ 3.1 available) Heavy plate as driving plate, driving plate or driving road for load distribution, ditch crossing and construction site equipment. Steel driving plates are a useful addition to our plastic driving plates and ground protection plates. Many of our customers buy and use both steel and plastic track plates according to the respective product advantages and properties, even at the same time on a construction site / project. So it is not so much a question of choosing either steel plates or plastic plates, but rather where and when the use of steel or plastic driving plates makes more sense. A tip from us: If you should use steel plates on hard and sensitive floors or subsoil such as sidewalk, asphalt, sidewalks, etc., we recommend our rubber mats in 3mm, 6mm or 8 mm thickness as a damping, separating, insulating carpet pad. The rubber mats effectively contribute to noise reduction and reduce the risk of leaving marks due to movement and shifting of the steel plates. We can also put your logo or lettering on the steel plates or individual perforations for easier laying of the steel plates by crane trucks, excavators or wheel loaders.

Probably the biggest difference between steel and plastic track pads, apart from the high dead weight, is the high stiffness or bending stiffness or, in other words, the lack of elasticity. The bending stiffness allows steel plates to cover a trench to allow pedestrians and machines to cross a trench safely. Therefore, the steel plates are very often called crossing plates, which allows the crossing of a trench even with a heavy excavator, truck, crane or other construction equipment.

Another feature of the bending stiffness is load distribution effect of the steel driving plate. Thanks to the stiffness, point loads, the wheel load for example, are very well distributed over the surface. The area load is the quotient of force by area; this is also referred to as area load distribution. Due to this effect, the steel driving plate has proved particularly suitable for the use of heavy machines and vehicles on heavily softened, unpaved and/or poorly load-bearing soils.

Steel driving plates are also frequently used as a temporary access solution or access road for construction sites as a mobile construction road, driving road or heavy-duty access road. This is also the reason for the alternative industry terms such as driving plate (due to heavy plate), driving plates, drive-over plates or also path steel, which all mean the same product or solution.

Furthermore, we recommend our steel plates whenever the plates are to be driven over with steel chains. Compared to profiled plastic track plates, the steel counterpart has a smooth, unprofiled surface. When driving over plastic plates without steering movements of a steel track vehicle, it is still uncritical. If steering movements are carried out with steel tracks on profiled plastic track plates, these will hold up, but increased wear and even complete abrasion of the profiling must be expected.
